A new Surgical option for breast cancer patients - Oncoplastic!

Oncology surgery and Plastic surgery combines to offer many women an alternative to traditional Mastectomy and Lumpectomy.
Cancers in segments of the breast, frequently along the milk ducts, are often leading to surgical treatment
that leaves the patient with a less than desirable esthetic result. Generally, plastic surgeons have different
goals than oncology surgeons. By combining the two specialties, the patient benefits from the best of both
surgeries in ONE surgery.

Most often patients, having undergone oncoplastic surgery, only have to revisit to complete their breast
reconstruction by adding minor cosmetic touches, such as a nipple.

Oncoplastic surgery means avoiding an expander, so a second surgery to remove the expander and add s final implant
is not needed thus reducing the overall collateral damage to nerves and tissue. Also, recovering after breast cancer
surgery is less traumatic with a reconstructed breast.
